I think the trick lies in the fact that the bag from the new Bottega Veneta collection at first glance seems, to be manufactured of straw, but actually the bag is made of genuine leather, rather thin slips of leather, interwoven. I think designers have created simply impossible – to create the illusion of straw through a completely different material even not close in the texture.

The show of a collection of accessories, which includes this wonderful creation, was held in San Francisco just a couple days ago.

Of course, the expression “very distant” is conditional. The bag is sewn of simple chocolate-colored leather, but it is entirely decorated with leather sequins at the same time. Clothing of Akris has always varied by noble elegance, graceful silhouettes and the usage of the most expensive materials. And the design of the first line of accessories was quite predictable, what else can be expected from Albert Kriemler, a connoisseur of luxurious simplicity?

A few months before the show the designer said: “You will not see 20 pockets or thousand of metal parts in my bags. In the design of his bags the most important – is the form clothed in a fine skin of the most expensive varieties”.

Akris bags do not have logos with the brand name. According to the designer, the logo is the easiest way to convey to the buyer the ownership of the accessory to a particular brand, it is much more difficult to develop your own recognizable corporate identity that people could recognize the purse from just the form, material or distinctive decoration.

The laconic trapezoidal shape of bags became the hallmark in the collection of Akris. Several styles of bags feature in the collection: bulk bags for travelling, evening occasion models, bags for everyday wear and accessories in the business style, they have different dimensions and proportions, but the silhouette of each of them can be fit into a trapezoid.

Bags of Akris, the approximate cost of which is estimated from $1500 to $6000, belong to the same price category as the accessories of Hermes, Chanel and Bottega Veneta.

The firm “Bottega” weaving, reminiscent of grandmother’s baskets, is cut off from the bottom of the bag, forming a long and voluminous fringe making this bag looking enormous but with a small storage.

Emilio Pucci’s fringe is simpler, and the bag itself bears more traditional nature. It is made of flesh-colored skin and decorated with applications in tone, as well as – with decorative stitches, imitating hand stitches. The fringe is made from the basic material; these are just thin leather strips that decorate the vertical stitches of the bag. Hippie-style is confirmed by the wing located on the top of the accessory in which a leather cord is threaded. The bag is a typical modern bohemian purse.

Designers of Missoni brand presented a controversial novelty. They also used leather cords, of which the twisted handle of the bag and the decoration in the form of spaghetti are made – such an association caused this design in me. The beige color of the material only reinforced that impression. However, this bag as well will have fans for sure: we shall see it next spring.
