Sk8bags: Skateboard Accessories from Beck
Do not know what to do with your old skateboard? Better than throwing it in the trash, give it to your old and shabby friend Hickey, and she will use it to good purpose. Back Hickey – a young designer, who has released a new line of designer handbags and accessories from skateboards called Sk8bags.
Back Hickey has created her own fashion brand Beck (y) in 2003 and devoted herself to creative craft after she was fired from the work of waiter. Designer from New York is developing a collection in which all things are handmade: women’s handbags, belt buckles, purses, earrings, pendants, and even covers for iPod. In the collection Sk8bags Hickey joined her long-standing love for skateboarding with her talent to design, resulting in the original useful handmade things.

Back painstakingly works on every accessory, it makes it unique. Everything is created from a single board, as all boards are different, there is no similar accessory created from these very old skateboards. The creative process is rather laborious, time-consuming. In her New York studio designer using a drill and other tools on a huge table, cuts and joins the board, and using a sewing machine, sews fabrics, mostly plush or satin.
With the design of handbags, purses and other accessories Back’s true friends helped her, sharing their ideas about how this or that article should look for being attractive and at the same time convenient. Back confessed that everything turned out even better than she had expected.
