The new collection by Derek Lam, autumn-winter 2009-10 is presented in warm sandy shades. To make the collection the designer was inspired by YSL interiors and the movie “Elevator to the Gallows” of the French film director Luis Mal.

The heroine of the collection became Janna Moro, who played the key role in the movie by Luis Mal, the same kind, mysterious, womanly and resourceful.

Is it worth saying that vintage shapes were used in the collection? And it is quite natural, taking into consideration the inspiration sources, which were used by the designer.

Suede and fur became the basic materials of the accessories by Derek Lam autumn-winter 2009-10. There are also designer handbags of calf leather and exotic skin of python.

Long-piled fur was used as a striking decoration. Particularly good look the “2 in 1” bags, which can be carried as a clutch with leather or suede fold, or as a bag, if the fold is resolved.

Derek Lam decorated the simple shapes of the bag with plated pockets with valves of an asymmetric form.
The distinguishing feature of the Derek Lam bags in the coming season is the big trinket-brush with a long fringe.

In the color spectrum the sandy, chocolate and smoky shades dominate. The golden color of the furniture agrees with the common color palette.
